Helen Kawagoe Legacy Program

Helen Kawagoe

If there was ever a time to invest in clerks' education, it's now.  You can do it by investing in the Helen Kawagoe Legacy Program.

The Legacy Program provides IIMC retirees and members an opportunity to be remembered and to continue supporting education programs.  The process is simple - just place the IIMC Foundation in your will.

Helen Kawagoe served as the elected City Clerk of Carson, CA, for many years and on the IIMC Board of Directors as Region IX Director, Vice President, and ultimately as President in 1986-87.  Helen is widely known for her giving heart and enthusiastic promotion of fundraising for municipal clerk education.  In 2021, the Foundation was notified that Helen generously remembered municipal clerks with a $100,000 legacy gift to the IIMC Foundation.  To honor Helen, the IIMC Foundation Board of Director renamed the Legacy Program in her honor.

Former Colorado City Clerk Donna Young left a portion of her estate to support municipal clerks.  A restricted endowment in Donna's name will preserve these funds to forever fund scholarships for municipal clerks seeking continuing education.

Please join us in leaving a legacy to the keepers of democracy in local government - our clerks.  For more information on the Helen Kawagoe Legagy Program contact Chair Sharon Cassler at clerkofcouncil@cambridgeoh.org or call Sharon at 740-439-2640.
